Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us at Warrior Foundation Freedom Station:
As Americans, we are blessed to live in a country that is the brightest beacon for freedom, liberty and justice the world has ever known. We owe a debt of gratitude to the courageous men and women of the United States military for protecting these principles. At Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station, we are committed to caring for our critically injured Airmen, Coast Guard, Marines, Sailors and Soldiers. From the moment they return from the battlefield to the time they transition back into the community as civilians, our foundation is here to support ill and injured service members on the road to recovery,
While our warriors receive excellent medical care at military hospitals, the government simply cannot meet all of their needs. This is the gap that Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station exists to fill. For the last decade, we have played an effective role in both physical and emotional recovery through our three main program areas: quality of life items, support services and transitional housing.
We are privileged every day to help change the lives of so many of our injured – whether it is a flight home, an ultra light wheelchair, or a place to call home. We are also honored to be there in the quiet moments that really matter – providing a shoulder to lean on, an outstretched hand or words of encouragement. For these brave men and women, the war may be over but a new battle has begun - to heal from injuries, to adapt to new prosthetic arms and legs, and to become a Mr. or Ms. Again after years as a corporal or a sergeant. There are also invisible wounds to be overcome in the form of post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury.
These warriors also work hard to adjust to new financial circumstances and living conditions as they determine what their future will hold, whether it is a new career, vocational training or a college degree. No matter what path they choose, one thing is certain. The team at Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station is bound and determined that their futures will be bright. We have their six. We are doing everything in our power to support their recovery needs, ease the transition to civilian life, and prepare them for success in their future endeavors.
From our inception in 2004 and continuing through to this day, we are proud to be an all-volunteer organization. No one takes salary so the maximum amount of dollars goes directly to our warriors. This fact alone reveals the character and compassion of a small army of people who are willing to work tirelessly every day for a cause that is greater than all of us.
To all our volunteers, donors and supporters, we thank you for your pride, passion and patriotism, and wish you a very Merry Christmas and the best New Year ever. May God bless you and protect our great nation.
