The Warrior Foundation Freedom Station in San Diego

Happy Freedom Station FamiliesFoundation Freedom Station in San Diego aims to be the leading force in assisting, honoring and supporting the military men and women who have so bravely sacrificed of themselves for our country. We are committed to supporting our warriors in a variety of ways including providing quality-of-life items, support services and transitional housing designed to assist them and their families during both recovery and transition processes. The Warrior Foundation Freedom Station in San Diego assists four main groups of warriors:

  1. The seriously injured just returning home from war
  2. Those undergoing physical or occupational therapy
  3. Those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injury
  4. Warriors who have been medically retired and remain in our community

To serve this last group in particular, we are proud to have pioneered a new, inclusive approach called “Freedom Station”. Freedom Station is a unique, recovery-focused transition center and housing facility that provides injured warriors with acclimation time, guidance and resources to successfully make the transition from military service to civilian life.

Veterans Help Organization Mission

As a veterans help organization in a city with such a diverse military presence like San Diego, we know firsthand that service members who sustain serious injuries are often fraught with fear, uncertainty and self-doubt as they await medical retirement.

the Blue Angels practicing over San DiegoDuring this critical period, many warriors are at-risk of falling through the cracks. This can result in tragic life circumstances like joblessness, homelessness, substance abuse and self-harm. You can see this brutish reality for yourself in the large numbers of Vietnam-era veterans currently constituting one of America’s largest homeless populations.

Freedom Station aims to reduce the fear and uncertainty associated with the transition from military to civilian life for active service members, ill, injured or medically retired military veterans. The success stories we have been privileged to be a part of demonstrate how effective an inclusive, rehabilitation focused program like ours can be. Because we are a non-profit veterans help organization, we ask you to help make sure we can continue to serve the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much in order to serve us.
